Creator Spotlight: Alex Te

The Notch team has been working with director, Alex Te for 5 years, and counting. He’s a talented and creative asset to our team no matter the project he’s worked on. From Amex to Farm Boy to Cadillac (and basically everything else), and his contribution and collaborative approach to any ask is unmatched.

So, we thought it was about due time to highlight his journey of becoming a freelance director and creative. Alex was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Toronto with his family when he was ten years old. Although moving to a new country can be tough, he focused on his love for the arts and obviously, his natural creativity took him in that direction. As a child, he loved watching sci-fi and superhero movies. Mesmerized by the editing and special effects, Alex dedicated much of his free time learning to duplicate scenes of Harry Potter spells or, of course, lightsabers in action. Little did he know, how important this skill would be for his future career in production.

As he grew up in Canada, he enrolled in an Arts high school for music and singing, which he realizes now sparked his interest for directing music videos later in his career. During his undergraduate degree at Toronto Metropolitan University, he was introduced to videography and photography through travel videos at the peak of the super aesthetic travel vlog era (we all remember those don’t we). Inspired by this, he continued to make videos to document his travels to New York and Bali.

After time developing his own video and editing skills, through internships and experiences, he found a love for the essence of storytelling through art. And at the beginning of 2019, he officially started doing video and content production for events, influencers, and brand work.

Flash forward to the present day, Alex is on a roll, running his own company, Rad Res, that focuses on directing, editing, and content creation centered around commercials, brand content and music videos. This was a big step for him, as creating his own branded company allowed him to diversify his portfolio of production services and create something much bigger than himself. And although focusing on the present moments are important, obviously Alex has big goals for himself moving forward.

“If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I am always striving to be better and constantly finding ways to make engaging and impactful work.

He has high standards, as a creative and a director. In his own words, he explains what his focus is for 2024, “I always try to make every project better than the last, and excited to continue pushing the boundaries this year”. But he wants to make sure that the content he creates not only pushes boundaries but also tells great stories that connect to as many people as possible.

We’re so thankful for the many opportunities, projects, and moments that Alex has contributed to over the years, and we can’t wait to continue working with him in the future!
